Question: How dose Maxillofacial surgery correct jaw and facial deformities?
I heard in most reconstructive and plastic surgery makes a good out come and relining the deformity and giving it a normal shape such as jaw and facial deformities giving a normal apperance
Answer: my daughter had corrective jaw surgery when she was 17(18 yrs ago) she had a bad under bite. What a change in her looks she is beautiful. But it is a long process from braces to straighten her teeth and trips to a New York hospital ( at that time no surgeon's around here to do this type of operation).Her mouth was wired shut for I think 8 wks ate through a long syringe in the mouth,lost some weight .My daughter is very happy with the operation (we had one set back) and she feels better about her self but she didn't wear her retainer for her teeth like she should have & now they are starting to crowed. I just hope her daughters don't inherit her jaw problem.
