Facial Blushing Surgery

Question:

I just recently learned of this thing called Endoscopic Thoracic Surgery. This procedure is said to eliminate or reduce symptoms such as facial blushing, hyperhidrosis, etc. I have suffered from frequent severe episodes of facial blushing my entire life, brought on by social phobia/anxiety. I was referred to this procedure by my doctor, as an alternative to life-long medications such as inderal to control blushing. Has anyone heard of or experienced this surgery? I'm hearing only wonderful claims of its effectivness, and I am somewhat skeptical to say the least.

Answer:

There are a couple of links on my Social Phobia webpage about this. I don't know much about it personally, but here are some links that might (or might not) help you: (also, on the email lists page of my site I know there is an email list that is for people who have had or are considering having this surgery. I cannot remember the URL to it but if you go to the Email Lists Page of my site you will find it there. http://Open-Mind.org/Help/ Hyperhidrosis Clinic http://endoscopic-surgery.com/ Information about Endoscopic Surgery to treat excessive sweating & blushing Privatix Clinic http://www.privatix.fi/ Information about ETS - Endoscopic Transthoracic Sympathectomy (clamping of the sympathetic nerve) to treat Social Phobia
