Question:

When Penny Ante was played the other day, I thought to myself that this would be a perfect small prize game. Have 2 small prizes w/4 possible prices, instead of having 2 grocery items. The contestant would win the small prize if s/he guessed the right price, before running out of pennies. Win both & obviously they'd win the bigger prize.
What other grocery type games could be implemented in such a way where small prizes could be used instead, if any?
Check-Out (which had another face lift I saw) is for grocery items. It wouldn't work well using small prizes.
Grand Game: Might work. Davidson's TPIR used it, but how, if at all, would the players WIN any of the small prizes?
Hit-Me: I hate this game to begin with. Again, how would the players win the small prizes?
Grocery Game: Obviously would NOT work, since it's GROCERY game!
Hi-Lo: Might work, but again, how would the player win the small prizes?
Pick-A-Pair: Again, how would the player win the small prizes?
Any thoughts?

Answer:

Hole in One also used small prizes on TnPIR94. Hole and Grand Game were the only two grocery item games used on TnPIR94. Possibly, but they'd have to make the leeway $25 or $50 to make it more winnable. A similar game was used as an LMAD Deal in the All-New era, where a couple would have to price items a la Check-Out, and would have to have a total within a certain limit of the actual total of the items, which ranged from grocery items to TPIR-like Small prize items, to win a big prize.
