Chemical Peel Training
|
Question: my big question for this procedure is: do you know how deep your
chemical peel is penetrating? THAT is my biggest concern for people
doing the combo treatments - chemical exfoliants have the potential to
penetrate much deeper than an esthetic license may allow in some states,
and unless one is working under the supervision of a physician, there is
a huge liability issue here.
Answer: The concept of using an exfoliant, whether enzyme or a sal-acid
preparation, prior to a microdermabrasion treatment is based solely upon
whether the client has thicker, oily skin - this type of combo treatment
should not be performed on a thin-skinned, mature alipidic skin.
I undertand Linda's questioning of "why do micro after 'burning' the
skin" - if you are performing a TCA or Jessner, absolutely not, you
wouldn't do micro - either before or after, in my book (literally ;) but
after an enzyme or sal-acid prep, sure - BUT under the above
circumstances.
