Benefits Of Chemical Peel
|
Question: My wife has just enough small dark hairs
above her upper lip to give a slight hint of a moustache. Also she has
some reddish/brown pigmentation there which adds to the problem,
creating even more of an illusion of a moustache...
My question then, is how does she get rid of this? We live in L.A. and
I see all these ads for laser hair removal. But does it work? Is it
safe? Is it painful?
And as to the blotches above her lip, is there any product for this,
something that will "bleach it away"?
By the way, she is a Mexicana, with medium - not too dark, but darker
than white - colored skin...
Answer: As for the pigmentation above her lip, I'd recommend she use products
that have Hydroquinone (2%) and Kojic Acid in them. Hydroquinone is a
bleaching agent that's very effective. She won't see the results
immediately, but she'll see a dramatic improvement over the course of
time. I would not recommend she get a TCA chemical peel, specifically
designed to treat hyperpigmentation, because darker skinned people
tend to see fewer benefits than those with fair-skin. Not to say that
it wouldn't work for her, but it's just a fact. She'll just see an
improvement in her skin texture, that's all. However, if the
blotchyness is lighter than the rest of her face, then that sounds
like that same skin problem that Michael Jackson has. I've heard that
he has to have his face bleached very 3-4 months. God bless him, I
say. Anyway, if that's how it is with your wife, then she needs to
see a dermatologist.
