Alice In Chains Facelift

Question:

I've been enjoying the recently-purchased Alice in Chains CD "Dirt" a lot. (I know - I'm way behind. Just got a CD player too!) I was curious whether their earlier efforts ("Facelift" is the one that I can recall) are similar. That is, if I like "Dirt", would I like "Facelift"? I've heard "Man in the Box" - if the rest of the record is like that, then it's full steam ahead to the record store. Can anyone in the group help me please?

Answer:

The first four songs on Facelift are pretty heavy. Some of the other songs aren't as heavy but they are still really good. So yes, if you like Dirt you'll probably like Facelift. I think that the EP they released entitled Sap is much better than both Facelift and Dirt, but the style is nothing like Facelift or Dirt. It has 5 songs, the 5th song is a joke. The first 4 songs are mostly acoustic. My sister heard it and wouldn't believe it when I told her that it was Alice in Chains. I bought Sap for $5 so even if you don't like it it's not like you're wasting too much money. Their new EP Jar of Flies is coming out January 25 and I believe it has 7 songs in the same style as Sap. I personally think that Dirt is a much better album then Facelift, by better I mean much more consistent. Some of the songs on Facelift blow away Dirt in its entirety, but some of the songs on it are mediocre to poor. But definitely worth getting.
